Just got back, here is a brief review of the main events:-
Firstly - Colin Johnson, Great first fight!!! Pleasure to assist in the corner!! Well done.
Jordon V's Seamus - This was a good fight, Jordon took his time and picked his opponent apart, some great solid kicks (as always). Cogan was a very game fighter but just couldn't really get into the fight.
Liam V's French guy - Not much to discuss really, Both looked comfortable, plenty of smiling from the French guy until Liam dropped a great Low kick onto his planted leg, he dropped and couldn't get back up. Shame really because he did look like a good technical opponent. Sorry Liam but it would have been nice to see a couple of rounds before you finish him :-).
Andy Howson V's French guy (who looked Thai) - Fight of the night!! It was a war for the first three rounds with both fighters landing good technique. Andy walked through a lot of his opponents attacks to get off some good shots. The french guy started to gas a bit in R4 and it was just a matter of time for Andy to capitalise. R5 saw a great spinning elbow from Andy which opened a cut of his opponents forehead, everyone thought it was over but after a bit of vaseline it went on for the remaining 30 seconds. Andy good win!!! (IMO you did take a few too many body kicks, but hey they didn't seem to phase you).
Richard Cadden V's RUNG (Thai) - The thai was a very game fighter and put Rich under pressure from the opening bell all the way to the final bell. Rich never really got into his fight and lost on points. This opponent was every fighters worst nightmare, very awkward and never takes his foot off the gas. Rich coped very well and managed to cut him with an elbow in the last round but it was a little too late. Unlucky Rich, just one of them nights and a very tricky opponent.
Great show, saw a few good people as always. Sandy, Vinny, Dave J, Tony Myers, Liam Robinson, and a quick hello to Wossoboma Jojo (Sorry couldn't chat longer but was getting ready to corner)
Cheers,
FB'Slim

Ste
Rogerson The New S.I.M.T.A North West Area Super
Middleweight champion!
Story By Matthew Jagger
Fight
Report
On Sunday
the 26th of September Ste Rogerson was made The New S.I.M.T.A
North West Area Super Middleweight champion!
It's not
been long at all since the last time we saw Ste training hard
for a title. The problem was, all his hard work was to no
avail when his opponent essentially chickened out and claimed
a groin strain making Ste the ISKA North West champion without
him even breaking sweat!
However
this time things were a little different, over the weeks preceding
the fight Kru Richard Lewis and the team at PTBC had more
of a purpose about them. The training for the whole club stepped
up to give the essential support a fighter needs along with
world leading instruction of course!
Ste trained
clever this time around, knowing the fight was on, a fresh
opponent was challenging, and a major title was vacant and
ready to be his. All this topped off with TV coverage at Master
Skens Promotions Super fights at the George H. Carnall Leisure
Centre, right here in Manchester!
Only days
before this fight Ste had a major problem that could have
jeopardised the title, his efforts, and a space on the mantle
piece! An accident whilst working led to a badly twisted ankle,
swelling and the need to take a break just when the hard training
needed to be implemented. In return Kru Rick and Ste had to
plan, and quickly! Cardio, opposite techniques, speed over
power, smart fighting and anticipation as only Kru Richard
Lewis knows best.
Soon enough
sell out crowds, massive club support and a very purposeful
team warmed up for the 6th fight of the day to decide the
North West Area Super Middleweight Champion. The opponent
Barry Denholm from Glasgow was the man standing in the way,
again a much taller opponent for Ste to deal with and he soon
would!
Both fighters
were in great condition, and after the traditional Wai Kru
was performed Kru Richard Lewis Baz White and Master Sken
all waited for the first bell to commence the fight.
Round
1
Steaming
from the red corner Ste planted a big right kick instantly
rocking Barry Denholm, they moved and the combinations seemed
to be getting ranged out, Denholm eventually answered back
just slipping Ste's leg un balancing him, a quick flurry and
another bomb of a kick had Denholm chasing Ste to catch the
points. Little did Denholm realise Ste was ranging the taller
fighter out whilst having to deal with a troublesome ankle.
Ste was on the back foot to bring Denholm in, and after a
three punch combination he finished his testing with a clinch,
just before breaking Ste dropped an elbow on Denholm's leg
with the thud we all recognize as going to the bone!
In an
effort to catch Ste, Denholm came forward into a set of punches,
this would be the beginning of the end for the Scott. The
first over the top punch from Rogerson was way out right,
they came back together in range, Ste dug deep set up with
a left and launched a huge over the top right into Denholm's
face, landing square and dropping him to the canvas stunned
and un aware of what hit him! During the eight count In the
neutral corner, Ste's eyes fell to Kru Richard Lewis to quickly
receive the plan of action. The ref shouted the fight and
Ste took the leg off Denholm distracting and dropping the
Scott's guard, in that very instant a stinging left from Ste
raised Denholm's chin and the deciding over arm right pounded
into the Scott's already dazed face, with a shudder, and a
bolt up right body Denholm was KO'd and falling to the canvass,
just for good measure Rogerson laid another right into the
head of Denholm to send the fact home!
In 1 minute
and 44 seconds into the first round Ste Rogerson KO'd Barry
Denholm of Glasgow Scotland to Become the S.I.M.T.A North
West Super Middleweight Champion in front of a screaming home
crowd and a proud club.
2 belts,
2 titles, one man who is on a mission to show everyone that
Prestwich Thai Boxing club produces real down the line talent
and nurtures a fighter, a plan, and a club that has only one
way to do business, and that's to win! The club is just beginning,
Ste Rogerson has just begun, and anyone with an ounce of common
sense will realize that Kru Richard Lewis and Prestwich Thai
Boxing club is already dominating what others have spent years
trying to achieve.

win to Ste

Connor
is the new SIMTA North West Champion
Story By Matthew Jagger
Prestwich Thai Boxing is synonymous
with discipline hard work and commitment. Recently one of the
club's first ever members showed everyone what Kru Rick Lewis
and Prestwich Thai Boxing club strive to gain for all it's pupils.
On Sunday
the 15th of August the Hall of Master Sken's training academy
in Stockport saw Connor Umney make his way to the ring to
make his challenge for the SIMTA North West Area junior title.
His opponent from Kings Cobra County Durham soon joined Connor
in the ritual dance of the Wai Kru with applause and shouts
of encouragement for the fighters. The difference between
the two fighters was minimal and everyone thought the fight
would be to the end, and very close!
However,
the cheers of the crowd and instant instruction from Kru Rick
Lewis saw Connor steam ahead in the blink of an eye, dominating
the centre of the ring and forcing his opponent to play Connor's
game how he wanted it. Kick after kick, technique and power
far beyond his years showing exemplary amounts of the effort,
instruction and above all hard work Connor had put in weeks
before the event.
All of
a sudden, one minute and ten seconds into the blaze of attacks
Connor threw the deciding blow! With a solid technique complimenting
Connor's natural power the kick landed on his opponents left
leg, instantly taking the fight out of him and causing an
emotional defeat to the more than capable Kings Cobra Challenger.
Again,
one minute and ten seconds into round one, Connor Umney was
declared the new, North West Area Champion by TKO as the challenger
simply could not fight on through the pain. Congratulations
Connor, we all know this is the first of many titles for a
future that is sure to be glittered with outright wins and
accolades to your name.
Connor
is the best example of how Kru Rick Lewis and Prestwich Thai
Boxing Club can reach in, and turn that hard work, effort
and instruction into a practical methodical win inside or
outside the ring in everything you do. So here it is, another
belt, another title, another win, Prestwich Thai Boxing Club
truly sets a standard, and never faults along the way! Whether
you are a born winner like Connor, or you have the heart to
be, Kru Rick Lewis and Prestwich Thai Boxing Club will find
it, and turn that into winning ability just like Connor has.
